5 Ways to Support Young Women this International Women’s Day 2025

By Miles Rhys Edwards - Corporate Partnerships Officer • 6 February 2025

After months of cold, spring is near. Budding flowers and the occasional bee fill us with hope for brighter days ahead and on Saturday 8 March, we’ll be celebrating International Women’s Day 2025.

Unfortunately, many young women are still feeling stuck and unable to move forward in life because of low pay, job insecurity and discrimination, leaving them feeling much less hopeful about the future than young men.

At Young Women’s Trust, we’re fighting alongside young women to make a brighter future a reality, but we can’t do it without you.

This International Women’s Day, we’re inviting you to support young women by celebrating their power and promise.

5 ways you can help to create an equal world of work for young women

1. Take part in the Women’s Run for Young Women’s Trust

50 runners will have the opportunity to join Team YWT for this women-only run at the Olympic Park in London.

Take part in a 5k or 10k run and raise vital funds for young women. The event brings together many different women’s charities in a symbol of unity and hope.

Registration fee: £15.
Minimum sponsorship: £100.

2. Organise an EquiTea!

Hosting an EquiTea is a chance to get together with your colleagues – in person or online – to build connections, learn from each other and raise vital funds to support young women.

Our research shows 41% of young women worry they won’t get the support they need at work. By hosting an EquiTea, you’re helping us create an equal world of work for your colleagues and the young women we support.

Register and you’ll get an instruction booklet, tips for how to fundraise, and a pack of tried and tested conversation-starter cards to ensure a successful event.

3. Donate to Young Women’s Trust

Donate in celebration of a woman you admire, and post about it on your social media.

Make your solidarity with women visible this International Women’s Day! Your donation may inspire someone else to get involved.

4. Get creative

Why not come up with your own fundraising event for Young Women’s Trust? You could organise a bake sale, walk/swim/run a certain distance within the month, or arrange a dinner party and ask your guests for donations!
