Young Women’s Trust responds after the Chancellor of the Exchequer delivered her 2025 Spring Statement in the House of Commons today.

Claire Reindorp, chief executive of Young Women’s Trust, said: “Today reinforces the importance of economic growth for our country and unlocking potential in the workplace is key to this growth. Yet thousands of young women are pushed out of and held back at work through a lack of flexibility, unsafe workplaces and illegal discrimination.

“The Government are rightly upgrading workers’ rights through the Employment Rights Bill. But until we have an enforcement system that is properly resourced, adequately funded and easy to navigate, they will fail to address poor employment practices that are holding young women back from contributing to the workforce and helping boost our economy.”

“The Chancellor has also provided more detail about welfare cuts today and we’re extremely worried about the impact of this on young women, who are already struggling financially. We agree that more support for disabled people to get into work is sorely needed. But cutting benefits for disabled people is absolutely not the way to go about it.”
